At Pearls Only, we all love a first! Whether it is the first time wearing pearls or the first time attending a prom, a first is always monumental. When we visited the red carpet at the Met Gala Ball in New York City on May 5, 2014, we were so excited to see sultry and artistically conscious music artist, Erykah Badu, walk the stairs for the very first time dressed in her fashionista threads.
The “Honey” songstress was dressed to impress in a Givenchy hat that was considered a rival to Pharell’s large hat created by Vivienne Westwood. The hat was covered with a band and base that was made of white satin and covered in pearls—absolutely marvelous!
Her top coat put the “p” in panache with its straight cut and knee length. We are thinking it is a must-have for the Fall of 2014; and under her coat she wore a black strapless jumper that we can only assume was also the works of designer Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy.
What made Erykah Badu also the center of attention for us was that she shared in her Met Gala experience with pictures from her Instagram. She looked like she had a great time with fashion friends June Ambrose (master fashion stylist), the unforgettable fashion model, Naomi Campbell; the Knowles sisters, Beyonce and Solange; and Johnny Depp.
She looks to really have enjoyed her time at the Gala.
We hope that is not the last time that we see Ms. Badu grace the red carpet for fashion. She has definitely left us wanting for more!
What do you think of Badu’s choice? Was it a hit or a miss?
